Baking Pie *Recipe not included, just friendly advice on what need to be taken note*
This recipe was originally filed with apple caramel. But Dad and Mum both felt that we might not be able to finish it if the inside is sweet. They preferred it salty. So, Mum made her own curry potato chicken fillings.
:D
Then Mum said since young she wanted to bake this cake because of a movie! Lol! Guess what?! SNOW WHITE!
She said she watched Snow White bake a pie while waiting for the seven Dwarfs to return, and since then she wanted to bake a pie like her. And, finally she has the chance.
The process of the making pie skin is time consuming. You have to dough, then use a roller to roll the dough. After that, fold it and rest in the fridge using plastics for 20 minutes. You have to repeat the steps for at least four times, each time fold the skin following the same direction before returning it to the fridge again. ### The more times you repeat the steps, the more layered your pie skin will be. Before the skin is ready to bake a pie, it takes another 2 hours to rest the dough. So, Mum kept it for one day instead.
The first time was wholly made by Mum as we were kinda afraid it might failed. So, here's the photo. :)
Oh ya, before this, you have to cut the dough you made last night into two, roll them into two different large circles.:) After that, fridge again for 20 minutes before starting to put it into the pie mould.
Insert the filling.
**Friendly advice : It might taste bland when you serve the pie if your filling isn't seasoned enough. Cause the pie skin might reduce the flavor. For this pie, I suggested you used a slightly spicy and salty than usual curry potato and chicken. This was found out on our second pie. :P
This step was suggested by the book. Mum said maybe it ensures the heat to go evenly inside the pie.. Then remember to brush a layer of egg yolk on it.
We added this step to give our pie a nicer look. :P
After 45-55minutes in the oven, ta da. It's done.
**Friendly advice : Spread the egg yolk on every surface of the skin to get a nicer brownish/golden looking skin. :)
Tiff.
